Nipps Earns Program’s First NEAC Weekly Award

GANSEVOORT, N.Y. – Freshman Derek Nipps (Turnersville, N.J.) of the Wells College men's volleyball program was selected as the North Eastern Athletic Conference Men's Volleyball Offensive Student-Athlete of the Week for his performance this past week for the Express, the conference office announced late Monday afternoon. Nipps is the first ever student-athlete from the men's volleyball team to secure the conference's award following the team's first doubleheader sweep in program history.

Across six sets played, Nipps posted 15 kills across two contests for the Express. Additionally, he put up 24 assists, averaging four assists per set, against Cazenovia College on Saturday while also contributing three service aces. Defensively, Nipps posted four digs and made only three errors in 23 total chances.

In the first game of the doubleheader, Nipps posted 10 kills alongside only one error in 14 total chances. Additionally, in the second game, he made only two errors in nine total chances and also posted two service aces.
