O’Loughlin Tabs Second NEAC Weekly Award After Becoming All-Time Wells Kills Leader

Caden O'Loughlin was named the North Eastern Athletic Association Men's Volleyball Player of the Week for helping the Wells College Express to an overall 10-2 record with his play last week. It was the second time this season O'Loughlin has been recognized as a top weekly player by the NEAC.

The senior from Kentucky became the school's all-time leader in kills last week in a match against Randolph-Macon on Feb. 2. The Express topped the Yellow Jackets by a 3-0 score with O'Loughlin needing a baker's dozen to break Brannon Perdicho's 1307 total. As he entered what would be the final set against Randolph-Macon, he needed five to break the record. Not only did he record the five kills he needed, but he did it with his final and team-leading 13th kill of the contest for a new school record at 1308.

In addition to those 13 kills against the Yellow Jackets, O'Loughlin also recorded a team-high nine digs and team-high 14 points.

O'Loughlin added another 18 kills in a four-set win over host Penn State-Behrend in the team's final match of the week with his new all-time mark at 1326 and counting.

The No. 8 Express started its week on Jan. 31 at No. 2 Springfield, and although Wells dropped that road contest, O'Loughlin registered a team-leading 12 kills and team-leading 13 points.

Overall for the week, the outside hitter recorded 43 kills, 45 points and 16 digs and averaged 4.3 digs-per-set.
