Express Fall in 5-Set Battle as 2024 Season Comes to a Close

CRESSON, PA - It was a spectacular and action-packed season finale for the Express men's volleyball squad on Saturday during their final 2024 matchup against the Mount Aloysius Mounties. Despite eventually falling in 5 sets to the hosts, the Wells men's volleyball squad had an amazing battle with the Mounties and produced so many fond moments and great plays to build on going into next season.

Wells was paced by sensational senior Billy McCrae who had a team-high 16 kills and was dangerous around the net for the entirety of his final game in an Express uniform. The 3-sport athlete will leave an amazing legacy in Aurora after becoming a standout performer in cross country, basketball, and men's volleyball. In his final showing, he showed out and provided some amazing offense as the Express pushed the mounties to the absolute limit.

Connor Garvey, the Express' captain also had an impactful game in his final time suiting up for Wells, loggin 7 kills and 4 digs while motivating the team to push on through the late-game fatigue that was unavoidable in a tough 5-set match.

On defense, the Express had yet another impressive outing, with 3 players reaching the double-digit dig mark by the match's end.

Jacob Sehn was once again the focal point of an Express defense that has been amazing at seeking out and cleanly receiving opposing attacks throughout the later stages of the season. Sehn, in particular has frustrated opposing offenses extemely often in his debut collegiate season. The former AMCC Defensive Player of the Week had a game-high 17 digs, blanketing the court and keeping the Express organized against a barrage of Mounties opportunities.

Last week's AMCC Defensive Player of the Week, Mason Moon, also put forth an excellent 2-way effort, recording 10 digs while also assisting 33 kills.

Fellow sophomore Harrison Keena was the final piece of the three-headed monster that the Express presented on defense during the match, as he filled any leftover gaps in the Wells defense, securing 10 digs along the way.

The Express will finish the 2024 campaign with a record of 7-22, but have plenty to be excited about as their plethora of young talent means that the future is bright for their young squad. Building around their impervious defensive capabilites, the Wells men's volleyball squad will look to climb to the summit of the AMCC in the coming years.
