Cross Country Sends Three To NCAA Regionals This Saturday

AURORA, N.Y. – Freshmen Katie Lamanna (Constableville, N.Y.) and Stephen Armstrong (Erin, N.Y.) will join sophomore Emily Middlebrook (Newark, N.Y.) as the Wells College cross country team representatives at the 2012 NCAA Division III Cross Country Atlantic Regionals this Saturday, held at Genesee Valley Park in Rochester, N.Y. next Saturday, Nov. 10.

The men's 8K race will commence promptly at 11:00 a.m. while the women's race will kick off at 12:00 p.m. Lamanna and Armstrong will be making their first appearances for the Express as freshman runners at the NCAA Atlantic Regionals while Middlebrook will be competing in her second regional meet. In 2011, Middlebrook placed 112nd overall amongst the 256 competitors at the 2011 NCAA Division III Atlantic Regionals, hosted by Saint Lawrence University on Nov. 12, 2011.

Middlebrook, only a week removed from receiving North Eastern Athletic Conference Runner of the Year honors for the second-straight year, has led the Express in all 16 races since joining the team as a freshman in 2011. She posted a season-best 6K time at the Wells College Invitational on Oct. 20, completing the course in 20:58.70.

Lamanna saw action in all eight races on the year for the Express, making her first collegiate appearance on Sept. 1 at the SUNYIT Wildcat Invitational. She ranked second on the Express at the Wells College Invitational on Oct. 20, ranking second behind Middlebrook with a time of 23:52.77. Armstrong placed second in all eight events on the year for the Express, recording a season-best 8K time at the Harry F. Anderson Invitational on Sept. 29 by completing the course in 28:55.
