Cross Country Teams Compete at Bruce Bridgeman Collegiate

Select members of the Wells College men's and women's cross country teams participated in the Bruce Bridgeman Collegiate Cross Country Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 10. The event was hosted by Finger Lakes Community College in Canandaigua, N.Y.

The Express men's cross country team fielded a full lineup and placed sixth with 148 points in a field of 10 teams. The race was contested over an eight-kilometer course. Tanner Mingen led the Wells runners with a time of 35 minutes, 11 seconds and placed 23rd. Adam Sleezer was 27th in 35:42.

Wells runners placed 35th and 36th as Lazaro Vasquez crossed in 36:57 and Tony Darpino followed in 37:33. Ross Cobb was 50th overall in 41:20.

Other competitors on the men's side included John Tolley (43:03), Bradley Sherman (44:20) and Ky'aire Reed (44:39).

Four members of the women's cross country team took part in the event and raced in a field of 59 individuals over a five-kilometer course. Amanda Fastiggi led Wells with a 20th-place finish in 25:12. Rutsuko Ueda was 37th (28:54), Jen VanWormer was 43rd (30:13) and Rosalety Galea was 50th (33:57).

The Express cross country teams will compete Saturday, Sept. 17 at the Yellowjacket Cross Country Invitational at the University of Rochester.
