EXPRESS TOP GALLAUDET WITH DOMINATING VICTORY

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Wells College women's basketball team jumped out to a 14-3 lead and never looked back en route to a 63-50 victory over the Gallaudet University Bison's in North Eastern Athletic Conference action Sunday afternoon in Washington, D.C. With the victory the Express improve to 3-10 (1-4 NEAC), while the Bison's fall to 3-10 (1-6 NEAC).

Ashley Roser (Taberg, N.Y.) led three Express players in double-figures with 19 points and 16 rebounds. Jessilyn Artaho-Aki (Kappaa, Hawaii) finished with 14 points and seven assists, while Kristen Ryan (Syracuse, N.Y.) chipped in with 10 points.

Claire Tucker led the Bison's with 16 points while Elena Ciccarelli added seven points and 11 rebounds.

The Express never trailed in this game, which started with a 14-3 run, including six points from Artaho-Aki. Wells stayed hot from the field, opening up a 19-point lead in the half before entering the break with a 36-20 lead.

Wells continued to pour it on in the second half. Buckets by Artaho-Aki and Roser along with a 3-pointer from Allison Pine (Blue Mountain Lake, N.Y.) extended the Express lead to 19 points just five minutes into the second half. Moments later, a lay-up by Brittany White (Lewiston, N.Y.) and 3-pointer from Ryan increased the their lead to a game high 24 points as Wells cruised the rest of the way to their first conference victory of the season.

Wells shot 45.6 percent from the field, while finishing with season highs in steals (21) and assists (16).

The Bison's shot just 32.7 percent from the field while committing a game high 27 turnovers.

Wells returns to action on Wednesday when they travel to take on NEAC opponent Keuka College at 7 p.m. in Keuka Park, N.Y.
