STRONG SHOOTING LEADS STORM PAST EXPRESS

AURORA, N.Y. – The Keuka College Storm women's basketball team hit eight of ten free throws down the stretch to close out the Wells College Express 68-51 in North Eastern Athletic Conference action Wednesday evening in Aurora. With the victory the Storm improve to 8-3 (6-1 NEAC), while the Express fall to 3-11 (1-5 NEAC).

Ashley Roser (Taberg, N.Y.) paced the Express on both sides of the ball finishing with a team high 16 points and a game high 23 rebounds. Jessilyn Artaho-Aki (Kappaa, Hawaii) finished with 13 points, while Kristen Ryan (Syracuse, N.Y.) added nine points.

Jessica Bandrowski (Center Moriches, N.Y.) led the Storm with 20 points and seven rebounds, while Mariah Mouzon (Elmira Heights, N.Y.) notched a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds.

The Storm jumped out to an early 9-0 lead on the heels of two 3-pointers by Brandowski and would eventually stretch their lead to ten (13-3) five minutes into the first half.

Wells fought back, mounting a run of their own, trimming the lead to three (14-11) mid-way through the first half before entering the break down by four 32-28.

Keuka grew their lead to eight (42-34) on an old fashion three point play from Taylor Szwec (Candor, N.Y.) six minutes into the second half. However, a lay-up by Ryan and four straight points from Roser cut the lead to four (44-40).

A 7-0 run by Keuka extended their lead to 11 (51-40) and buckets from Danielle Gravel (Sidney, N.Y.) and Szwec ballooned the Storms' lead to 15 (60-45) with 12 minutes to play. The Express cut the lead to nine with 2:23 left, but strong free throw shooting from the Storm sealed the victory.

The Express finished the night shooting 29.3 percent from the field, while finishing 15-24 from the charity stripe.

Keuka shot 35.7 percent from the floor and were impressive from the line finishing 24-29 (82.8%). The Storm also held the advantage on the glass 48-37.

Wells returns to action this weekend when they welcome NEAC opponent Wilson College to campus for a 2 p.m. tip-off. The Storm return home to take on the College of St. Elizabeth at 1 p.m. in Keuka Park, N.Y.
