Carley Ryan Earns Women's Basketball All-NEAC Honor

Wells College women's basketball senior Carley Ryan earned recognition for the 2018-19 season as she was selected by North Eastern Athletic Conference coaches as a member of the All-NEAC Third Team when the conference's individual honors and postseason awards were announced Thursday, Feb. 21.

It is the second year in a row that Ryan has earned a place on the All-NEAC Third Team.

Ryan was the leading scorer for Wells with a 16.6 points-per-game average. She also averaged 5.4 rebounds per game and had a team-leading 83 assists. Within NEAC games, Ryan ranked seventh in the conference in scoring at 17.1 points per game.

Ryan was the NEAC Women's Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending Jan. 6. She totaled 34 points and 13 rebounds as Wells defeated Oswego State and lost to Cortland State.

She reached the 1,000-career-points milestone in a Jan. 26 game against Penn State Abington, and Ryan is the fifth player in program history to record more than 1,000 points in her Wells career. Ryan finished the season with 1,125 points and ranks third all-time at Wells in scoring.

Ryan is an education major from Middleburgh, N.Y.

The Wells College women's basketball program has had at least one player selected to the all-conference teams since joining the NEAC for the 2010-11 season, when Wells women's basketball began competition at the NCAA level.

The all-conference teams honored the top-18 players in the NEAC, regardless of position. Each head coach in the league cast a ballot ranking nominated players (up to four from each institution). Coaches were not permitted to vote for their team's nominees.
