Wells College Women’s Basketball Team Records Two Season Scoring Highs in NEAC Opener

The Wells College women's basketball team came out flying to open North Eastern Athletic Conference play with an 8-0 run against visiting Penn State Harrisburg before the Nittany Lions rallied to beat the Express by a 78-56 score on Saturday, Dec. 7.

Wells held the lead late in the first before Harrisburg mad a late run to make it a one-score game after the first quarter in favor of the Nittany Lions. In the second quarter, the Express couldn't maintain its offensive prowess and Harrisburg took advantage to build a lead.

In the end, Wells had a solid second half and were outscored by just a bucket at 32-30. The Express had its two-best offensive quarters of the young season in the first and fourth quarters with a combined 37 points.

Brittany Kropp had her best outing thus far this season with team highs in rebounds with eight, assists with six and blocks with two while adding 10 points.

Lorissa Parks had a team-high 16 points while Jordan Jacobs propelled the team early with eight of her 12 points in the first quarter. Maritza Scharoun was strong defensively with seven boards to go with five points.

The women's basketball team next plays a non-conference tilt at Oswego State on Sunday, Jan. 5 at 2 p.m.
