Women’s Basketball Team Finishes Strong against PSU Berks

The Wells College women's basketball team exploded for 18 fourth-quarter points against visiting Penn State-Berks on Friday, Feb. 21. The Nittany Lions were outscored 18-7 in the fourth, but took the contest with a 66-40 final.

The 18 points matched a season-high fourth quarter team total from a Dec. 7 game against PSU-Harrisburg. Jordan Jacobs led the final quarter charge by scoring six of her team-high 14 points. Maritza Scharoun also picked it up in the fourth with six of her 10 points on the night.

Both Jacobs and Scharoun recorded seven rebounds to lead the team, while Sonia Rivera finished with a half-dozen boards and eight points after a pair of second-half threes.

Jacobs, Scharoun and Rivera each added a pair of assists. Jacobs also led the team in steals with five and blocks with two.

Rounding out the Wells College scoring was Lorissa Parks with five points and Jennifer McCumber with three.

The women's basketball team wraps up the regular season on Saturday, Feb. 22 against Penn College with a 3 p.m. start.
