BARCLAY LEADS EXPRESS OVER MOUNT ST. MARY

Aurora, N.Y.– Elizabeth Barclay (Laporte, Pa./Lincoln Academy) finished with 24 saves and three different players combined for 15 goals as the Wells College Express women's lacrosse team (1-4) defeated the Mount St. Mary College Blue Knights (2-2) 18-11 on Friday afternoon in Aurora, N.Y. Emily Lotkowictz (Skaneateles, N.Y./Skaneateles) finished with eight points on five goals and three assists, Sarah Allen (Clay, N.Y./Cicero-North) tallied six goals and one assists, while Eleanor Eshenour (Waterloo, N.Y./Waterloo) chipped in with four goals to lead the Express in their first win of the season. Catherine Conde (Bloomingburg, N.Y./New Hyde Park) led six Blue Knight scorers with three goals in the loss.

Lotkowictz started the scoring off on a free possession attempt at 27:41 of the first half, then assisted on Allen's first goal of the game to give the Express a 2-0 lead. Two unassisted goal by the Blue Knights would trim the lead to 3-2 at 18:57.

Eshenour netted two straight goals, 15 seconds apart, sparking a streak of five straight goals by the Express over the next eight minutes, building a commanding 8-2 lead. The Blue Knights battled back, scoring five goals over the final 6:52 to trim the lead to 9-7 at the break.

Mt. St. Mary's Sharon Cranwell (Putnam Valley, N.Y./Putnam Valley) pulled the Blue Knights to within one 45 seconds into the second half, but the Express responded with four straight goals in less than seven minutes to extend the lead to 13-8. After two goals by the Blue Knights brought the lead down to three for Wells,13-10, the Express offense erupted for five goals building their largest lead of the game, 18-10, with 3:03 remaining, all but ending any comeback hopes for Mt. St. Mary.

Barclay was stellar in net for the Express making 12 saves in each half, while facing a total of 38 shots on the day. Rounding out the scoring for the Express was Stefanie Miller (Barton, N.Y./Tioga Central) and Madeline Bass (Lemon Grove, Calif./Helix) who each tallied one goal and two assists, while Gabriella Decker (Encinitas, Calif./San Dieguito) added one goal.

The Express return to action on Saturday, March 27th when they take on Wilson College at 1:00 p.m. at Wells in Aurora, N.Y.
