Women’s Lacrosse Edges Houghton In Scrimmage; Official Game Postponed

HOUGHTON, N.Y. – Saturday's season-opening game for the Wells College women's lacrosse team has been postponed and will be made up at a later date to be announced, the Houghton College Department of Athletics announced Saturday afternoon. Both teams were originally scheduled to play in a 1:00 p.m. contest, but officials were not available for the start of the contest.

Both teams opted to play a scrimmage without officials in preparation for the upcoming season. With four goals in the second half, the Express were able to knock off the Highlanders by a 9-8 final score. In the game, the captains for Wells accounted for all nine of their teams goals - junior Savannah Tucker (Rochester, N.Y.) scored five goals while senior Madeline Bass (Lemon Grove, Calif.) and sophomore Marina Fargnoli (Apalachin, N.Y.) each chipped in two goals apiece. Junior Chelsea Dann (Flagstaff, Ariz.) earned the win in goal, backstopping the Express through the full 60 minutes of action.

The Express return to action Saturday, Mar. 23 as they face-off against Mt. St. Mary on the road in a 5:00 p.m. contest.
