Five From Women's Lacrosse Earn All-Conference

The Wells College women's lacrosse team had five players earn all-conference recognition as the North Eastern Athletic Conference announced its individual honors and all-conference teams for the 2019 season. Mackenzie Maloney and Savanah Connors were First Team honorees. Anna Bozeat was on the Second Team, and Renee Bartosz and Julia Smith earned Third Team honors.

Mackenzie Maloney, a senior from Huntington, New York, was selected to the First Team at midfield for the second year in a row and third time in her career. Maloney led Wells with 72 goals, 45 assists, and 117 points. She leads the conference in overall assists and ranks third in the NEAC in goals. She ranks eighth in the conference in draw controls and seventh in ground balls. Maloney is the program's career leader in goals, assists, and points. She surpassed 300 career points and 200 career goals this season and was the NEAC Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending April 28. It is the fourth year in a row that Maloney earned all-conference honors. As a freshman in 2016, she earned All-NEAC First Team and was conference Rookie of the Year. She was on the All-NEAC Second Team in 2017 and a NEAC First Team pick in 2018.

Savanah Connors, a junior from Moriches, New York, earned NEAC First Team at attack. It is the second year in a row that Connors earned all-conference recognition as she was on the NEAC Third Team in 2018. Connors ranked second on the team in goals and points, and ranks in the top-15 among all NEAC players in goals and points. Connors had five or more points in eight of 14 games.

Anna Bozeat, a senior from Jordan, New York, was named to the NEAC Second Team at goalkeeper. It is the third time in her career that she has been an all-conference selection. Bozeat was on the Second Team in 2017 and Third Team in 2018. She ranks fifth in the conference in save percentage and sixth in total saves. Bozeat was an active contributor to the Wells defense around the crease and ranked second on the team in caused turnovers with 23 and fourth on the team with 29 ground balls.

Renee Bartosz, a senior from Hamburg, New York, earned NEAC Third Team honors at attack. She ranked in the top-20 in the NEAC in goals, assists, and points and totaled 40 goals, 19 assists, and 59 points on the year which were all career highs. She surpassed the 100 career goals and 150 career points milestones during the 2019 season. Bartosz had six games with six or more points on the year. It is her first career all-conference honor.

Julia Smith, a senior from Guilderland, New York, earned NEAC Third Team honors at defense. Smith earned the first all-conference recognition of her career and changed positions to a primarily defensive role in her senior season. Smith ranked third on the team with 32 ground balls and 21 caused turnovers. She surpassed 100 career points this season.

The Express finished the season with an 8-6 overall record and finished fourth in the NEAC. Wells matched a program record for wins in a single season, and hosted a postseason game for the first time since 2010. It is the second year in a row that Wells has qualified for the NEAC playoffs.
