Express Capture AMCC Regular Season Title in Thrashing of Mount Aloysius

CRESSON, PA - From 2 wins in 2023 to UNDEFEATED in the AMCC in 2024 - what a turnaround it's been for the Express women's lacrosse program.

In only their 1st season of AMCC play, the Express have crushed their conference counterparts at every corner en-route to a 6-0 finish in conference play. The final of those 6 wins came on Saturday, when the Express traveled to Mount Aloysius for a date with the Mounties. The Express left no doubt, and left the Mounties in their wake as they wore down the AMCC's pre-season #1 team to achieve a 14-6 victory, securing their spot as the AMCC's #1 regular season team. With the win, the Express captured the 2024 AMCC Women's Lacrosse Regular Season Title and will be the #1 team in this year's AMCC Women's Lacrosse Tournament.

The Wells College women got it done just like they had all season: with an excellent blend of veteran leadership and youthful tenacity. The mixture of styles was put on full display, as Wells used their meteoric offense and stubborn defense to move past the Mounties and reach the regular season crown.

The Express offense was of the balanced variety during their visit to Cresson, with 4 attackers each logging multi-goal outings.

Wells' wonderful trio of first-year goal-scorers had yet another awesome outing, Logan Lomonaco and Hannah Lamont each putting in 3 goals and 2 assists on the day and Jade Epp also finding the cage for 2 scores and 1 assist. Lamont also managed to log another crooked number in the draw control category, nabbing 13 draw controls and helping the Express out-draw the Mounties 18-6.

Lauren Spiegel was great in net, as she stopped 6 Mounties attacks and achieved her unbelievable 12th win of the season.

Lydia Thomas ended as the game-high scorer for the Express, scoring 4 goals and also assisting in 3 during Saturday's action. For Thomas, and the Express seniors as a whole, Saturday's result proved as a cathartic culmination of their exemplary careers, as they vanquished any bad memories of the past and ushered in a new era of Express lacrosse with the AMCC's regular season title. Thomas, who was honored during the Express' senior day festivities exactly a week ago, represents just how far the Express have come, as she's seen all of the ups and downs that can possibly be experienced during a college sports journey throughout her 4 years in Aurora. With Thomas, and all of the seniors' leaving their mark on the Express youth, the future is bright for Wells women's lacrosse.

Despite the title and ensuing celebration, the Express have a couple more hurdles to clear as they wrap up their historic season. Next up for the squad is a matchup at Keuka on Thursday, April 25th in what will be their regular season finale. After that they will compete in the aforementioned AMCC women's lacrosse tournament. The Express have the #1 seed in this year's bracket, and will host the AMCC Semifinals on Saturday, April 27th with a chance to host the AMCC Championship on May 3rd should they advance past said Semifinal round.
