SENIORS DOMINATE WILSON

Aurora, New York – Senior Amanda Heterbring (Java Center, NY) recorded a hat trick  and sophomore Seyda Akyuz (DeWitt, NY) had a goal and an assist as the Wells College women's soccer team defeated North Eastern Athletic Conference opponent Wilson College, on senior day, 4-0 Saturday afternoon at Wells. The Express dominated from the first minute, peppering Wilson with 33-shots while allowing just one shot on goal. Wilson was led by goalie Bobbie Ditzler (Lewisberry, PA) with 15 saves.

It was a momentous occasion as all three seniors were acknowledged before the game started, and by the end of the day all three had recorded a point. Heterbring finished with three goals while senior Daisha King had two assists and senior Claire Petersen had one assist.

Akyuz would put the Express on the board just five-minutes into the game when an Emily Lotkowictz (Skaneateles, NY) pass found an open Akyuz on the door step of the Wilson goal allowing her to sneak a shot by Ditzler for a 1-0 lead. Less than 10-minutes later Heterbring would add to the lead when she broke through the Phoenix defense and blasted a shot by Ditzler for a 2-0 edge.

Heterbring would add a goal on a pass from Nora Hysell in the 72nd minute and her third goal less than four minutes later, from Petersen, to complete the hat trick and give the Express a 4-0 cushion.

With the win the Express improve to 6-7-1 (3-3-0 NEAC) while Wilson extends their season long losing streak to nine, falling to 0-9-0 (0-4-0 NEAC) on the season.

The Express will next play at home against Elmira College on Thursday, October 23, at 4:00 pm.
