STONES TURNS HAT TRICK IN 4-1 VICTORY OVER MORRISVILLE

Aurora, NY – Freshmen Paige Stone (Madison) recorded her first career hat trick and Rachel Mattraw (Chaumont) added a late insurance goal as the Wells women's soccer team rolled to a 4-1 victory over the Morrisville Mustangs in North Eastern Athletic Conference action Thursday afternoon. The Express improved to 3-9 (3-4 NEAC) while the loss drops the Mustangs to 2-10 (1-6 NEAC) on the season.

Stone would put the Express ahead in the first half, blasting home a rebound off an Emily Lotkowictz shot for the 1-0 lead that would hold heading into halftime.

The Express would come out firing in the second half as Stone would score two goals, less than two-minutes apart, extending the lead to 3-0 with 30-minutes to play. The Mustangs would close the gap to 3-1 at 64:03, but that would be all for the Mustang offense as the Express would tighten up the defense and cruise to the 4-1 victory.

The Express offense was unrelenting from the outset outshooting the Mustangs 11-2 in the first half and 17-5 overall.

The Express will next take on NEAC rival Wilson College on Saturday, October 17 at 12:00 pm at Wilson.
