Aurora, NY – Brooke Kern (Kutztown, PA) recorded a hat trick as the Penn St. Berks Nittany Lions rolled over the Express women's soccer team 4-1 on Saturday afternoon at Wells. Emily Lotkowictz (Skaneateles) scored the lone goal for the Express. The Express finished the season at 5-10-1 (5-5 NEAC) while the Nittany Lions close out the year at 13-5 (8-2 NEAC).
Lotkowictz put the Express up at 8:01 of the first half, but the Nittany Lions would not lay down tying the game four minutes later on a goal by Kern. Mackenzy Dawson (Reading, PA) put the Nittany Lions ahead just before the end of the first half for a 2-1 lead.
Berks would pull away in the second half as Kern would score two goals, less than two minutes apart, putting the game out of reach at 4-1 with 20 minutes to play.
Berks outshot the Express 19-12 and held a 6-1 advantage in corner kicks.
Both teams have clinched a spot in the North Eastern Athletic Conference and will await the seeding, set to be released by the conference on Sunday afternoon.
