BAY PATH HOLDS ON FOR VICTORY OVER EXPRESS

(Aurora, N.Y.)-  The Bay Path College women's soccer team jumped out to a two goal lead and held on to defeat the Wells College Express 2-1 on Sunday afternoon in Longmeadow, Mass. Rebecca Furman (Parkland, Fla./Marjory Stoneman) scored the lone goal for the Express on an assist by Paige Stone (Madison, N.Y./Madison), while Rachel Mattraw (Chaumont, N.Y./Lyme Central) finished with seven saves in the loss. Jacqui Siddle and Sara Antonacci each score for Bay Path, while Janise Shabazz finished with eight saves. With the loss the Express fall to 1-5-1, while Bay Path improves to 1-5-0 on the season.  

It was all Bay Path in the first half, outshooting the Express 13-5, scoring one goal by Siddle off a corner kick as they would hold a 1-0 lead heading into halftime.  

The Express turned things around in the second half, holding the advantage in shots 9-8. Despite the advantage in shots, Bay Path would deliver the game winning goal at 55:57 as Antonacci scored to extend Bay Path's lead to 2-0. The Express continued to battle and would get on the board at 73:24 as Furman fired a shot past Bay Path goalie Shabazz, trimming the lead to 2-1.  

Furman and Stone would both have scoring chances late in the game but the Bay Path defense stood tall as they would hold on for the 2-1 victory.  

The Express will next remain on the road traveling to D'Youville College on Tuesday, September 21 at 7:00 p.m. in Buffalo, N.Y.
