LANCASTER CHARGES BY EXPRESS

AURORA, N.Y. – The Wells College women's soccer team ran into a hot Lancaster Bible squad falling to the Chargers 5-1 in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) action Saturday afternoon in Lancaster, Pa. Ally Brown (East Petersburg, Pa.) led the Chargers with four points on the afternoon (1 g, 2 a), while Paige Stone (Madison, N.Y.) paced the Express with the one goal. With the victory the Chargers (9-1, 6-0 NEAC) have now won a program record nine straight games. The loss drops the Express to 4-7 (2-3 NEAC).

The Chargers got on the board in the 13th minute. Brown sent a corner kick over Sarah Heilenman (Williamsport, Pa.), who headed the ball past Express goalie Megan Lawrence (Auburn, N.Y.) for 1-0 lead. Lancaster added to their lead ten minutes later, scoring on blast from Karyn Harkness (Lancaster, Pa.) from 20 yards out for a 2-0 lead. Evelyn Stauffer (Lancaster, Pa.) made it three goal lead in the 32nd minute, scoring off a corner from Brown and, just five minutes later, the Chargers added their fourth straight goal to take a commanding 4-0 lead.

The Express chipped into the Charger lead in the 38th minute, Stone made a great individual effort for the Express, cutting through the Charger defense and hammering a shot to the left hand side and in, trimming the lead to 4-1.

Lancaster came out of the break and immediately scored 28-seconds into play, extending their lead to four goal for the second time. The Lancaster defense would prove to be too much for the Express one shot on goal the rest of the way as Lancaster cruised to the victory.

The Chargers held a decisive edge in shots 28-6 and corner kicks 12-0.

The Express will look to bounce back tomorrow against NEAC opponent College of St. Elizabeth at 12:30 pm in Morristown, N.J.
