FIGHTING TIGERS TOP EXPRESS IN FINAL GAME OF THE SEASON

COBLESKILL, N.Y. – The Wells College women's soccer team fell 2-1 in their final game of the season to the SUNY Cobleskill Fighting Tigers in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) action Saturday afternoon in Cobleskill, N.Y. Andrea Lisk and Kaitlyn Enright each tallied a goal for the Fighting Tigers, while Paige Stone (Madison, N.Y.) score the lone goal for the Express. With the victory the Fighting Tigers improve to 4-12-2 (3-7-2 NEAC), while the Express fall to 7-11 (5-7 NEAC).

Stone put the Express ahead in the 20th minute scoring off a point blank shot to beat the keeper. The Fighting Tigers responded less than two minutes later scoring on a shot from six yards outside the box, tying the game at 1-1. Lisk scored the eventual game winner in the 31st minute off a cross from Erica Faulkner for a 2-1 lead.

After combining for three goals and 28 shots, the two teams played to a scoreless second half. The Express controlled the tempo in the second half firing 10 shots on goal but would be unable to beat  Misty Golden, who finished with 20 saves, as the Fighting Tigers held on for the 2-1 victory.

The Express held the advantage in shots (21-19), while the Fighting Tigers held the advantage in corner kicks (8-6). Express goalie Cassie Smythe (Eden, N.Y.) finished with nine saves in the loss.
