MIGHTY OAKS TOP OFF THE EXPRESS

AURORA, N.Y. – The Wells College women's soccer team played a non-conference game against the Suny Esf Mighty Oaks on Saturday afternoon.  Shannon Blanford (Fayetteville, N.Y.) led the Express with two goals, but would not be enough to hold on to a win. With the loss, the Express would fall to 2-6 while the Mighty Oaks improves to 3-2 on season.

Bridget Cuddihy and Brooke Harris both led the Mighty Oaks with two goals apiece and Alyssa Johnson also chimed in with one goal and three assists. Paige Stone (Madison, N.Y.) and Kasia Jandura- Cessna (New Hartford, N.Y.) both added one goal for the Express

Both remained tied at 2-2 for much of the first period, but Dalton Meg would take a corner kick that was blocked out, but would land a cross kick to Brooke Harris who leaded the ball in for a 3-2 lead. The Oaks would strike again before the half with one more goal by Bridget Cuddihy.

The Express had a chance of redemption in the 2nd half and would strike back with two more goals, but this would not be enough to contain the Might Oaks. Cassie Smythe (Eden, N.Y.) managed to put her hands on the game with 11 saves, while Olivia Gagliardi had 7 saves for the Mighty Oaks.
