TRUDEAU NAMED HEAD WOMEN’S SOCCER AND SOFTBALL COACH

(AURORA, N.Y.)─ The Wells College Department of Athletics is pleased to announce that Jamie Trudeau has been named the head coach for women's soccer and softball.  Trudeau currently holds a bachelors' degree in physical education/sports science from Chowan College in North Carolina and a masters' degree from the University of South Dakota in health, physical education, and recreation. Prior to accepting this position, Trudeau most recently served as the head softball coach at Cardinal Stritch University in Milwaukee, Wisc. She also served as the assistant soccer and softball coach at Plattsburg and as the head soccer and assistant softball coach at Hudson Valley Community College.

"Coach Trudeau's wealth of knowledge and experience in both soccer and softball will be an excellent addition to our staff," said Chair of the Search Committee and Assistant Athletic Director Aaron Bouyea. "I look forward to watching both programs blossom under her leadership and guidance."

Trudeau takes over a women's soccer program that missed the NEAC playoffs for the first time in three years and a softball team that managed just three wins in 2011 after earning the program's first playoff appearance in 2010.

"I am very excited for the opportunity to coach both women's soccer and softball at Wells College," said newly appointed head coach Jamie Trudeau.  "The College's long standing tradition and history of academic success will be a great environment to work in.  I am looking to mirror that commitment through athletics with the women's soccer and softball programs."

The women's soccer team will return to campus in mid-August for pre-season training and will open their season at home on September 1, against SUNY Potsdam at 5 p.m; while the softball team will return to campus on August 24 and begin practice in their non-traditional season this coming fall.
