Express Blanked By Golden Eagles, 7-0

BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The Wells College women's soccer team posted a 7-0 loss to the Golden Eagles of The College at Brockport Tuesday afternoon. With the loss, the Express fall to 3-10 overall on the year while the Golden Eagles improve to 10-1-2 on the season.

The Golden Eagles outshot the Express by a cumulative 36-to-1 margin en route to their seven goal victory. Six different players scored goals for Brockport, including Vanessa Gillette, who led the way with two goals to her credit. Courtney Szczesniak struck for her sixth of the season while Maria Malone and Courtney Belding each converted their second goals of the season. Kendzie Wohleben and Christie Grupka both scored their first goals of the season against Wells.

Midfielder Savannah Tucker (Rochester, N.Y.) recorded the lone shot on goal for the Express, a high, looping shot that was corralled by Hannah Conine for the lone save of the game for Brockport.

Goalkeeper Ashley Roser (Taberg, N.Y.), entering today's game ranked second amongst Division III goalkeepers nationwide, allowed seven goals on 19 shots on net. Erin Beach played the first 21 minutes of the contest before yielding to Laura Thompson. Conine relieved Thompson in the 51st minute and played the remainder of the game between the pipes.

The Express return to action on Saturday, Oct. 13 as they host Wilson College in a 12:00 p.m. contest at the North Athletic Field.
