Kime Saves 10 In Women's Soccer Loss To Alfred State

ALFRED, N.Y. – The Wells College women's soccer team posted a 5-1 loss to the hosts from Alfred State College on Wednesday at Pioneer Stadium. With the loss, Wells drops to 0-3 on the season while Alfred State improves to 3-2 on the year.

In her collegiate debut, Wells goalkeeper Abbigail Kime (Geneva, N.Y.) made 10 saves as the Express allowed a whopping 25 shots to the hosts. Wells mustered only three shots on goal in 90 minutes, but freshman Sarah Halstead (Fulton, N.Y.) scored her second collegiate goal in the game's 36th minute to tie the game at one aside.

Alfred State scored the first goal off the game with a McKenzie Miller strike before Halstead's equalizer. Down the stretch, however, the Pioneers saw an additional goal by Miller along with two strikes from Kali Muhleisen to open up a 4-1 lead. Haley Vosburg added an insurance goal in the 79th minute off a feed from Anna Rath to increase the hosts lead to 5-1.

Allison Danielak, the backstop for Alfred State, allowed one goal on three shots faced.

Wells returns to action Saturday, Sept. 13 as they face-off against Gallaudet in a 4 p.m. road contest.
