Juniors Power Women's Soccer Past Penn College

AURORA, N.Y. – Junior Heather Hiltbrand (Fayetteville, N.Y.) scored the first two goals of the game en route to a 3-0 victory for the Wells College women's soccer team over the Wildcats of Penn College on Saturday at the North Athletic Field. With the victory, Wells improves to 4-3 overall on the season and to 4-1 within the North Eastern Athletic Conference. Penn College drops to 3-6 overall and to 2-4 within the league.

Hiltbrand's first goal of the game came from midfield as she whirled around and fired a blast that just snuck under the crossbar in the 17th minute of play. With only 47 seconds left in the first half, freshman Yanna Ososkalo (Lyme, N.Y.) sent a cross right-to-left that Hiltbrand fired home for the second goal of the contest.

Junior Karley Raczynski (Fonda, N.Y.) later capitalized on a through ball sent forward by senior Shannon Blanford (Fayetteville, N.Y.), adding insurance in the 61st minute. In total, Wells outshot their opponent by a 20-to-12 margin.

Wells goalkeeper Abbigail Kime (Geneva, N.Y.) picked up her first collegiate victory and shutout, halting all four shots on net that she faced. Colleen Bowes allowed three goals on nine shots to earn the loss.

The Express return to action Tuesday, Sept. 23 as they host Hilbert in a 2 p.m. tilt at the North Athletic Field.
