Ryan Draws NEAC Defensive Player of the Week Honors

GANSEVOORT, N.Y. – Freshman Carley Ryan (Middleburgh, N.Y.) picked up the North Eastern Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week award after helping the Wells College women's soccer team to a 2-0 weekend in conference play.

Ryan and the Wells backfield allowed only one shot on goal across the previous two contests, a 5-0 victory against Gallaudet on Saturday and a 1-0 triumph over Wilson on Sunday. Playing defense, Ryan also helped her team generate offensive opportunities in her team's two victories as the Express fired an impressive 96 shots while allowing only five shots against.

Ryan is the first recipient from the Wells College women's soccer team to win a weekly award from the conference dating back to Oct. 31, 2011 when goalkeeper Cassie Smythe '15 was the league's selection.

Wells returns to action Saturday, Oct. 10 as they face-off against the College of Saint Elizabeth in a 1 p.m. road contest.
