AURORA, N.Y. – The Wells College women's soccer team posted a 2-1 victory over visiting Cazenovia College on Saturday. With the victory, the Express conclude their season with a 7-12 overall record and a 6-6 mark within the North Eastern Athletic Conference while the Wildcats move to 6-9-2 on the year and to 4-7-1 against league opponents.

With the score tied at one in the 67th minute, junior Amber Welsh (Cortland, N.Y.) scored her sixth goal of the season to place the Express ahead by a 2-1 margin. Streaking up the field, freshman Jordan Lidell (Pitcher, N.Y.) was able to sneak a pass forward to Welsh at the top of the box, setting up the game-winning goal.

Freshman Mackenzie Maloney (Huntington Station, N.Y.) scored her 11th goal of the season with only 4:13 remaining in the first half, placing the Express up by a 1-0 margin. Maloney booted home a right-to-left cross from Welsh, giving Wells an early lead. The advantage was short lived, however, as Cazenovia's Erika Lewis-Ellison was able to tie the game only 80 seconds into the second half after getting behind the Wells defense.

Wells goalkeeper Quinn Doubet (Virgil, N.Y.) made three saves in the victory while Cazenovia's Lauren Gee allowed two goals on 10 shots faced. On the afternoon, Wells held a distinct advantage in shots taken (25-to-6) and also picked up five of the game's nine corner kicks.

In a pregame ceremony, the Express honored its three graduating student-athletes on Senior Day, including Dayna Vibbard (Burlington Flats, N.Y.), Heather Hiltbrand (Fayetteville, N.Y.) and Karley Raczynski (Fonda, N.Y.).

The seven overall victories for Wells is the most in any season since 2012.
