Women's Soccer Drops Opening NEAC Contest

The Wells College women's soccer team began North Eastern Athletic Conference play Sunday, Sept. 11 and fell by a 3-0 score against Keuka College at the Wells Turf Field. Wells is now 2-2-0 overall and 0-1-0 in the NEAC. Keuka is 2-2-0 and 1-0-0 in the NEAC.

The game was scoreless through the first half of play. Keuka held an 11-4 advantage in shots over the first 45 minutes. Late in the first half, a corner kick from Erin Persons curled on net and was headed off the goal line by a Keuka defender. Wells goalkeeper Karlie Maloney made five saves in the first half.

Keuka took a 1-0 lead in the 54th minute of play on a goal from Allison Ariola assisted by Nicole Browe. The Wolves sealed the victory with two goals in the final 10 minutes of the second half.

Maloney had nine saves in the match. Keuka finished the game with 28 shots to nine for Wells.

The Express continues NEAC play on Saturday and Sunday Sept. 17-18 at SUNY Cobleskill and SUNY Polytechnic Institute.
