The Wells College women's soccer team scored a goal in each half and won 2-1 at Cazenovia College on Saturday, Sept. 24. Wells is 5-3-0 on the season and 2-2-0 in the North Eastern Athletic Conference. Cazenovia is 2-6-0 and 1-4-0 in the NEAC.
Wells took a 1-0 lead five minutes before halftime on a goal from freshman forward Emma Booth, her team-leading seventh goal of the season. Booth's goal was assisted by Madison Beriman.
The second Wells goal came in the 59th minute as Elizabeth Lockley scored on a 35-yard free kick to put the Express ahead 2-0.
Cazenovia scored with two minutes left in the match, and that accounted for the 2-1 final score.
Wells goalkeeper Karlie Maloney made two saves and earned the win. Wells outshot Cazenovia 17-4 and had a 4-1 advantage in corner kicks.
The Express returns to action Oct. 1 at Wilson College at 1 p.m.
