NEAC Recognizes Women's Soccer Karlie Maloney With Defensive Honor

Freshman goalkeeper Karlie Maloney of the Wells College women's soccer team was selected as North Eastern Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending Sept. 25.

Maloney was the winning goalie for the Express as the team won both of its matches during the week. In a mid-week non-conference game at D'Youville College, Maloney made 10 saves in a 2-1 overtime victory for Wells. It was a career-high single-game save total for Maloney. She added two saves in a 2-1 NEAC win for Wells over Cazenovia College on Saturday, Sept. 24.

The Express has won three of its last four matches and stands at 5-3-0 overall and 2-2-0 in the NEAC. Wells returns to action Saturday, Oct. 1 with a 1 p.m. match against Wilson College.

It is the first career NEAC weekly honor for Maloney. She is the second Wells player to be honored by the conference this year, joining Emma Booth who earned Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 6.
