Women's Soccer offense rolls in 7-1 win at WIlson

The Wells College women's soccer team scored three times in the first 17 minutes of the match and cruised to a 7-1 victory over Wilson College on Saturday, Oct. 1. Wells improved to 6-3-0 overall on the season and 3-2-0 in the North Eastern Athletic Conference. Wilson is 5-6-0 overall and 2-4-0 in the NEAC.

The game was hosted by Wilson at an off-campus venue, Mercersburg Academy in Mercersburg, Pa., due to rainy weather affecting the playing surface at Wilson's on-campus field.

Yanna Ososkalo opened the scoring for Wells just 3:23 into the match with an unassisted goal. Emma Booth then scored twice in a span of four and a half minutes to extend the Express lead to three goals. Booth's first goal was assisted by Madison Beriman and the second was assisted by Mackenzie Maloney.

Wilson scored its only goal in the 36th minute, but consecutive goals by Mackenzie Maloney late in the first half gave the Express a 5-1 lead at halftime.

Ososkalo added a goal in the opening part of the second half and Amelia Thomas scored her first goal of the season to close the scoring for Wells.

Wells has won four of its last five matches and has outscored its opponents 18-5 over those five games.

Starting goalkeeper Karlie Maloney made one save in the first half. Quinn Doubet played the second half and didn't face a shot. Wells outshot Wilson 28-2 in the match.

The Express returns to action Sunday, Oct. 2 at Gallaudet University.
