Shutout Victory For Women's Soccer Over Cedar Crest

The Wells College women's soccer team got back in the win column with a 2-0 victory over Cedar Crest College on Sunday, Sept. 10 at the Wells Turf Field. Wells has won both of its home games this season and is 2-2-0 overall. The Express handed Cedar Crest its first loss of the year, as the Falcons' record now stands at 3-1-0.

Wells broke a scoreless tie late in the first half as Mackenzie Maloney controlled the ball at the top of the penalty area, dribbled to her right and slotted a shot back against the flow inside the left post. It was her second goal of the season. Wells led 1-0 at halftime.

Early in the second half, the Express won a corner. Mackenzie Maloney delivered the cross from the left corner, and Yanna Ososkalo jumped to head home the goal. It was the first goal of the year for Ososkalo.

Wells outshot Cedar Crest 8-5 in the second half and 13-11 in the game.

Goalkeeper Quinn Doubet made four saves and earned her first shutout of the season.

The Express continues non-conference play Saturday, Sept. 16 at Ithaca College at noon.
