Second Straight Win For Wells Women's Soccer

The Wells College women's soccer team picked up its second-straight win with a 2-1 victory over Cazenovia College on Tuesday, Oct. 17 at the Wells Turf Field. Mackenzie Maloney scored both goals for the Express as Wells overcame an early deficit.

It is the first time this season that Wells has won back-to-back games. The Express stands at 4-9-0 overall and 2-4-0 in the North Eastern Athletic Conference. In the NEAC North Division, Wells is currently in fourth place with a 2-2-0 record against divisional opponents. Cazenovia is 7-5-0 overall, 3-3-0 in the NEAC, and 1-3-0 in the North Division.

Cazenovia took a 1-0 lead in the sixth minute of the opening half.

Mackenzie Maloney tied the game on an unassisted goal in the 22nd minute when she curled a shot from the corner into the net. Eleven minutes later, Mackenzie Maloney scored her second goal of the match and team-leading eighth goal of the season on an assist from Madison Maloney.

Neither team scored in the second half. Cazenovia held a 20-17 overall advantage in shots. Wells held a 5-0 advantage in corner kicks. Quinn Doubet made 10 saves over 90 minutes of play in goal for the Express.

Wells is on the road this weekend at College of Saint Elizabeth on Saturday, Oct. 21 and at Gallaudet University on Sunday, Oct. 22.
