Gallaudet Rallies For OT Win Over Women's Soccer

The Wells College women's soccer team took a pair of one-goal leads but were defeated 3-2 in overtime by Gallaudet University on Saturday, Sept. 29 in a North Eastern Athletic Conference match in Washington, D.C.

Wells opened the scoring in the early portion of the first half. Mackenzie Maloney scored her team-leading fifth goal of the season on an assist from Madison Beriman in the seventh minute of the game. Maloney took the pass and shot into the lower-left corner of the goal. Gallaudet tied the score in the 31st minute and the game was 1-1 at halftime.

Mackenzie Powers scored for Wells in the 53rd minute, her first collegiate goal, on an assist from Erin Persons. Five minutes later, Gallaudet scored and the game remained tied 2-2 after the second half. Off of a throw-in, Gallaudet scored in overtime to take the win.

Kayleigh Hurley had eight saves for Wells. The Express is 1-8-0 overall and 0-5-0 in the NEAC. Gallaudet is 4-5-0 overall and 2-3-0 in the conference.

Wells plays Sunday, Sept. 30 at Lancaster Bible College.
