Balanced Scoring Lifts Women's Soccer To Win

The Wells College women's soccer team posted its highest-scoring match of the season in a 9-0 victory at the College of St. Elizabeth on Saturday, Oct. 13 in Morristown, N.J.

The Express won for the third time this season and is now 3-10-0 overall with a 2-6-0 record in the North Eastern Athletic Conference. St. Elizabeth is 2-10-0 and 0-8-0 in the NEAC.

Wells scored four times in the first half and five goals in the second half. Seven different players scored at least one goal for the Express.

The Express started the scoring 15 minutes into the game with an unassisted goal for Madison Beriman, her first goal of the season. Carley Ryan scored twice in the final 10 minutes of the first half and Autumn McLain also scored before halftime.

Erin Persons scored 1:21 into the second half, and Mackenzie Powers scored twice in the second half, and also assisted on the first goal of the collegiate career for Alexis Huff. Mackenzie Maloney added a goal in the 82nd minute, her team-leading seventh goal of the year.

Freshman goalkeeper Alexis Sterio made three saves and picked up her first collegiate shutout and victory.

Wells held a 26-7 advantage in shots and 13-7 advantage in corner kicks.

Wells continues NEAC play with a Saturday, Oct. 20 home game at 1 p.m. against Penn State Berks.
