Women’s Swimming Splits At Mansfield University Meet

MANSFIELD, Pa. – The Wells College women's swimming team posted both a victory and a loss against the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford and Mansfield University Saturday afternoon in a triangular swim meet featuring both schools. In head-to-head meets, the Express improve to 7-3 overall on the season and have equaled their best season in program history with today's action.

At 7-3 overall on the year, the Express have tied the 1981-82 women's swimming program with the best record overall in program history. Wells has never won more than seven swim meets in a season in their program's history.

Through the day's first seven events, the Express finished no worse than second. However, freshman Hilary Feudale (Coal Township, Pa.) secured the first overall victory for the Express with a win in the Women's 50 Yard Freestyle event, posting a time of 26.87 to rank her fifth all-time in program history with that mark.

Feudale struck again in the Women's 100 Yard Backstroke, placing first with a time of 1:07.04 to rank her second all-time in program history with that time. The all-time record holder in that event remains Jennifer Ingold, who posted a time of 1:06.42 on Nov. 19, 1991.

Freshman Nina Daniels (Pittsford, N.Y.) collected two second place finishes on the afternoon for the Express, turning in a time of 12:32.19 in the Women's 1,000 Yard Freestyle and a time of 6:06.42 in the Women's 500 Yard Freestyle. Her time in the 1,000 Yard Freestyle is a personal best and ranks her eighth in program history.

Freshman Meghan Terry (Delmar, N.Y.) also placed second twice for the Express. Her time of 2:37.60 in the Women's 200 Yard Individual Medley paired with a 1:01.95 in the Women's 100 Yard Freestyle helped Wells College to victory.

The Express conclude their regular season on Saturday, Jan. 26 as they host both William Smith College and Cazenovia College in a 1:00 p.m. meet. Senior Gwenn Lillie (Potsdam, N.Y.), the program's lone senior student-athlete, will be honored in a pre-meet ceremony.
