Feudale Sets Program Record As Women’s Swimming Sweeps

WASHINGTON – Sophomore Hilary Feudale (Coal Township, Pa.) set the program record in the 50 Yard Freestyle event as the Wells College women's swimming program posted head-to-head victories against Ferrum College and the host Gallaudet University Saturday afternoon. Wells improves to 3-3 overall on the year in head-to-head competition after collecting a 102-86 win against Ferrum and a 107-94 victory versus Gallaudet.

Feudale's record-breaking time of 26.31 in the 50 Yard Freestyle shattered the previous top time of 26.35 set by Gabrielle Spencer on Nov. 18, 2010 against SUNY Cobleskill. Feudale's previous career-best time in the event came on Feb. 15, 2013 at the North Eastern Athletic Conference Championships.

Wells picked up a first place finish in the 200 Yard Medley Relay as the foursome of Feudale, freshman Gina Ross-Detro (Geneva, N.Y.), senior Hallie Hanson (Ashville, N.Y.) and Olive Touron (Cato, N.Y.) combined to post a time of 2:09.63. Feudale struck again in the 100 Yard Backstroke, recording a time of 1:06.14 to beat the second place finisher by only .10 seconds.

The final first place finish for Wells on the afternoon came in the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay as Stephanie Todd (Norwich, N.Y.), sophomore Melanie Canales (Burlington, Mass.), freshman Claire Shanholtzer (Winfield, W. Va.) and senior captain Britta Kilbourn (Scotia, N.Y.) finished with a time of 4:34.10.

The Express return to action Saturday, Jan. 11 as they host Buffalo State College and Cedar Crest College in a 1:00 p.m. home meet at the Wells College Aquatic Center.
