Women's Swimming Splits At Cedar Crest

ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Wells College women's swimming program picked up a 104-76 victory over the College of Saint Elizabeth but posted a narrow 92-91 loss to the hosts from Cedar Crest College on Saturday. Following the meet, Wells' overall head-to-head record stands at 1-3. 

Wells remains undefeated all-time against Saint Elizabeth (6-0) while Cedar Crest was able to eke out a narrow victory, their first against the Express in team history. Wells picked up two one-point victories in 2013-14 but loses their first one point meet dating back to a 119-118 loss at King's (Pa.) on Dec. 1, 2007. 

Senior captain Stephanie Todd (Norwich, N.Y.) picked up Wells' first individual event victory with a 12:57.34 time in the 1,000 Yard Freestyle. The Express went on to post second place finishes in two of the next three events as senior Olive Touron (Cato, N.Y.) posted a time of 2:18.98 in the 200 Yard Freestyle while freshman Kaitlyn Schwend (San Marcos, Calif.) turned in a time of 2:38.33 in the 200 Yard Individual Medley. 

Schwend secured a first place finish in the 100 Yard Backstroke, posting a time of 1:12.44 to lead the seven-swimmer field. The Express also posted strong performances in the 100 Yard Breaststroke as sophomore Gina Ross-Detro (Geneva, N.Y.) led her team with a time of 1:22.48. Later in the meet, the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay foursome of sophomore Amelia Flint (Bath, N.Y.), freshman Samantha Hall (Ogdensburg, N.Y.), Schwend and Touron claimed a first place time of 2:00.25. 

The Express return to action Saturday, Nov. 22 as they participate in the SUNY Delhi Fall Invitational on the road at 1 p.m.
