Women's Swimming Clipped By Buffalo St., 114-58

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Wells College women's swimming team posted a 114-58 loss to Buffalo State College at Kissinger Pool on Sunday. With the loss, Wells falls to 4-5 overall in head-to-head meets on the year while the host Bengals move to 2-1 on the season.

The Wells foursome of sophomore Amelia Flint (Bath, N.Y.), sophomore Gina Ross-Detro (Geneva, N.Y.), freshman Kaitlyn Schwend (San Marcos, Calif.) and freshman Samantha Hall (Ogdensburg, N.Y.) turned in a respectable time in the 200 Yard Medley Relay, placing second after a 2:11.65 finish.

Schwend and Ross-Detro were at it again in the 200 Yard Individual Medley, placing first and second respectively with times of 2:39.17 and 2:41.07. Freshman Samantha Roll (Phelps, N.Y.) narrowly missed a first place finish in the 50 Yard Freestyle, posting a time of 32.89 to miss out on first place by only 1.45 seconds.

In the 100 Yard Butterfly, Schwend's time of 1:07.17 placed her just under a second short of a first place finish. Competing as the lone entrant in the 1,000 Yard Freestyle, junior Nina Daniels (Pittsford, N.Y.) completed the 1,000 Yard Freestyle with a time of 13:25.31

The Express return to action Wednesday, Jan. 14 as they face-off against the Pioneers of Alfred State College for the third time this season. The meet will begin at the Wells College Aquatic Center at 1 p.m.
