Women's Swimming Drops 110-97 Meet at Alfred State

ALFRED, N.Y. – The Wells College women's swimming program came up just short of victory on Saturday, dropping a 110-97 meet to the Pioneers from Alfred State College on the road. With the loss, Wells drops to 1-4 in head-to-head meets on the year while Alfred State picked up its first win of the year.

Competing as the lone entry in the 200 Yard Butterfly, freshman Courtney Cloutier (West Springfield, Mass.) earned nine points with a time of 2:33.58 to break her own personal record of 2:34.36 set earlier in the season. Her time remains the fourth-fastest in team history. She also finished first in the 100 Yard Butterfly, earning nine points after touching the wall in 1:11.43.

Her most impressive performance of the afternoon, however, came in the 400 Yard Individual Medley. Despite placing second with a time of 5:12.44, Cloutier's time is the third-fastest in team history. She just narrowly missed eclipsing the second-fastest time of 5:12.31 set by Suzanne Benson '87 at the NYSAIAW Championships in 1984.

Senior Quinn Griswold (Alpine, N.Y.) picked up another first-place finish for the Express on the afternoon, posting a time of 2:29.81 in the 200 Yard Backstroke to eclipse her season-best time of 2:30.09, also set earlier in the year. Like Cloutier's personal-best time, Griswold's mark remains the fourth-fastest in school history.

Griswold and classmate Nina Daniels (Pittsford, N.Y.) finished first and second, respectively, in the 500 Yard Freestyle with times of 6:11.15 and 6:14.33.

Wells returns to the pool on Saturday, Dec. 5 as the team will travel to Washington, D.C. to take on the host Bison from Gallaudet University alongside SUNY Cobleskill at 11 a.m.
