Wells Women's Swimming Starts Season At Hartwick Relays

The Wells College women's swimming team opened its season Saturday, Oct. 15 at the Hartwick Relays in Oneonta, N.Y. Five teams competed in the series of relay events, and Wells placed fifth in team scoring behind Hartwick College, Le Moyne College, College of Saint Rose, and SUNY Oneonta.

Wells placed third in the 400-yard medley relay and 300-yard backstroke relay. In the 400 MR, Wells clocked 4:22.37 by the group of Shannon Simmons, Gina Ross-Detro, Courtney Cloutier, and Asa Cade. The three-leg backstroke relay of Chelsea Munson, Ana Bozeat, and Emily Cooper clocked 5:06.37.

Three other relay teams took fifth-place finishes in the meet. The 200-yard freestyle relay of Ross-Detro, Cade, Simmons, and Cloutier swam 2:04.52. The 200-yard medley relay of Ross-Detro, Emily Blake, Cloutier and Cooper went 2:25.45; and the 400-yard freestyle relay of Simmons, Blake, Ross-Detro, and Cloutier capped the day by touching in 4:38.07.

Wells next competes Saturday, Oct. 22 at Buffalo State College at 1 p.m.
