Cloutier Earns Women's Swimming Honor From NEAC

Courtney Cloutier of the Wels College women's swimming team was named North Eastern Athletic Conference Swimmer of the Week for the week ending Dec. 4. Cloutier, a sophomore from West Springfield, Mass., earned two individual victories and anchored a winning relay in a home meet Saturday, Dec. 3 against NEAC opponents Gallaudet University and SUNY Cobleskill.

Individually, Cloutier placed first out of eight swimmers in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:12.97, as well as first out of five in the 100-yard butterfly after touching the wall in 1:12.12. Cloutier then helped the Express close the meet with a victory in the 400-yard freestyle relay, as she joined teammates Gina Ross-Detro, Shannon Simmons and Kaitlyn Schwend to claim a first-place finish with a time of 4:21.57.

It is the second NEAC weekly honor of the career for Cloutier, who also earned the honors as a freshman for the week ending Jan. 10, 2016 following a meet against Buffalo State.

The Wells College women's swimming team returns to action in the second semester, with a three-team meet Jan. 13 at Utica College with Alfred University.
