Schwend Shines In Senior Night Win

The Wells College women's swimming team won by a score of 69-16 in dual-meet action against SUNY Delhi on Wednesday, Jan. 24 at the Schwartz Athletic Center. It was the third dual-meet victory of the 2017-18 season for the Express.

Prior to the meet, senior Kaitlyn Schwend was honored during Senior Night festivities. During the meet, she went on to win the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:07.69 and the 500-yard freestyle in 6:06.57.

Simmons won the 50 free in 30.07 seconds, which was 28-hundredths of a second faster than teammate Anna Bozeat in second place in 30.35. Simmons also took the 100-yard backstroke, again edging Bozeat.

Cloutier won the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:34.84 and took second in the 100-yard butterfly in 1:14.03.

Amy Storti was first in the 100-yard freestyle in 1:12.52.

Tiffany Core won the 100-yard breaststroke for the Express.

Wells had the only entries in the two relay events. The group of Simmons, Cloutier, Schwend, and Bozeat won the 200-yard medley relay in 2:14.75 and the team of Asa Cade, Paetyn Burish, Emily Cooper, and Storti won the 200-yard freestyle relay in 2:16.66.

Wells concludes its regular season with a Saturday, Jan. 27 tri-meet at William Smith College that also includes Cazenovia College. The meet in Geneva, N.Y. begins at 1 p.m.
