Schwend Wins 100 Fly Title At NEAC Championships

The Wells College women's swimming team completed second day action at the North Eastern Athletic Conference championship meet on Saturday, Feb. 17. The meet is being hosted by SUNY Cobleskill and Wells stands in third place after the second day of the three-day championship meet.

The 200-yard medley relay team of Shannon Simmons, Courtney Cloutier, Kaitlyn Schwend, and Anna Bozeat placed fourth in the A Final with a time of 2:11.96.

Kaitlyn Schwend won the NEAC Championship in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:05.87 in the event finals. She swam 1:04.68 in the prelims to earn the top seed in that event.

Courtney Cloutier was seeded fourth after the prelims in the 400-yard individual medley, but moved up one spot in the event finals and placed third with a time of 5:19.55.

Shannon Simmons placed fourth in the 100-yard backstroke in 1:16.96.

The 800-yard freestyle relay of Anna Bozeat, Shannon Simmons, Courtney Cloutier, and Kaitlyn Schwend clocked a 9:23.65 to take second in the A Final, and it is the sixth-ranked time in program history in the 800 free relay.

The final day of the championship meet will begin with preliminary races Sunday at 10 a.m. and event finals starting at 4:45 p.m. Fans can follow the action and live webcast via the championship meet site.
