Women's Swimming Starts Season At Cortland Meet

The Wells College women's swimming team placed fifth at the season-opening SUNY Cortland Pumpkin Relays on Saturday, Oct. 20. The meet featured a combination of traditional and unique relay events. In addition to Wells and Cortland, the meet included Marywood, Roberts Wesleyan, and New Paltz.

The Express claimed a pair of seventh-place finishes in the meet. In a 300-yard backstroke relay Shannon Simmons, Callia Ortega, and Nicole D'Aurizio finished in 3:55.11.

Another seventh-place finish came in the 200-yard medley relay as Simmons, Courtney Cloutier, D'Aurizio, and Ortega wrapped up the meet with a time of 2:18.04.

Wells also swam solidly in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 2:11.63 by Emily Cooper, Jess Boeheim, Amy Storti, and Shannon Simmons.

Wells begins dual-meet action for the 2018-19 season on Saturday, Oct. 27 at Oswego State.
