Women's Swimming Splits At Buffalo State

The Wells College women's swimming team split a pair of results in a double-dual meet Saturday, Jan. 12 at Buffalo State College. Wells picked up a 171-27 win against Pitt-Bradford and fell by a score of 144-97 against Buffalo State.

Two event victories highlighted the meet for Wells. Wells won the 200-yard freestyle relay with the quartet of Caitlin Lawrence, Amy Storti, Shannon Simmons, and Callia Ortega clocking in at 2:05.31. This followed a win in the 200-yard individual medley by Courtney Cloutier in 2:31.31.

Cloutier also picked up second-place finishes in the 200-yard butterfly (2:34.23) and the 200-yard backstroke (2:37.84).

Ortega was second in the 50 free in 29.07 seconds and third in the 100 free in 1:04.75.

Caitlin Lawrence was second in the 200 free in 2:39.01.

Bella George took second in the 200-yard breaststroke in 3:29.88.

Emily Cooper was second in the 1,000 free in 15:02.74 and third in the 500 free in 7:14.69.

Wells was second in the 200-yard medley relay as Simmons, Ortega, Cloutier, and Lawrence timed in at 2:16.84.

Wells will host a home meet Tuesday, Jan. 15 against Penn State Altoona at 1 p.m.
