Regular Season Capper For Women's Swimming

The Wells College women's swimming team took on a pair of regional opponents in a double dual-meet Saturday, Jan. 26 at William Smith College. The Express faced the host William Smith Herons and also went up against North Eastern Athletic Conference opponent Cazenovia College. William Smith defeated Wells 142-66 and Cazenovia edged the Express by a score of 97-88.

Wells took third in the 200-yard medley relay as Shannon Simmons, Callia Ortega, Courtney Cloutier, and Caitlin Lawrence swam a time of 2:14.79.

Ortega took second place in the 50-yard freestyle in 28.62 seconds

Cloutier was second in the 200-yard butterfly in 2:33.80 and third in the 400-yard individual medley in 5:09.69

Lawrence was third in the 100 free in 1:07.24.

Emily Cooper was third in the 1,000-yard freestyle for Wells with a time of 15:11.78.

Alexis Huff was third in the 200-yard breaststroke in 3:31.04.

Wells took second and third in the 800-yard freestyle relay to close the meet. The group of Simmons, Jess Boeheim, Cooper, and Lawrence swam 10:59.33 for second to beat out the group of Kaylen Furr, Bella George, Jeanna Swift, and Keanna Adams in third.

Wells has completed its regular season dual-meet season and will take the next couple of weeks to prepare for the North Eastern Athletic Conference championship meet, hosted by Cazenovia College on Feb. 15-17.
