Women’s Volleyball Draws Four Set Loss To Keuka

KEUKA PARK, N.Y. – Despite a team-leading 11 kills from freshman Meredith Kadjeski (Mechanicsburg, Pa.), the Wells College women's volleyball team was saddled with a 3-1 loss to North Eastern Athletic Conference rival Keuka College Wednesday evening at the Weed Gymnasium. With the loss, Wells falls to 5-20 overall on the season while the Storm improve to 20-6 on the season.

Trailing after losing the first set by a 25-11 margin, the Express rebounded to secure a 25-20 second set victory. Keuka, however, stifled any further Express comeback with the third and fourth set scores concluding at 25-11 and 25-15, respectively.

Kadjeski posted 11 kills across 39 total attempts, leading all players in both categories. She also concluded her evening tied with libero Nicole Loeven (Pawling, N.Y.) with 15 digs. Sophomore Taryn Heath (Truxton, N.Y.), the primary setter for the Express, racked up 19 assists on her team's 22 total kills. She also contributed with three block assists on the evening to lead the team in that category.

Keuka was led by Paige Golden's 20 kills en route to clinching NEAC Regular Season Co-Champion honors. Defensively, Taylor Smith led all players in the match with 27 digs. Jillian Nolan and Rachel Parker had 18 and 11 assists, respectively, as Keuka setters combined for 41 assists on their team's 47 total kills.

The Storm also hammered home 14 service aces on the evening opposed to only two for Wells.

Wells returns to action Saturday, Oct. 26 as they face-off with Hilbert College at noon before playing the host Highlanders of Houghton College at 4:00 p.m.
