Women's Volleyball Posts 3-0 Victory Over St. Elizabeth

LANCASTER, Pa. – Powered by the team's second-best cumulative attack percentage (.337), the Wells College women's volleyball team posted a 3-0 victory over the College of Saint Elizabeth on Saturday to conclude the final North Eastern Athletic Conference Crossover Weekend on the campus of Lancaster Bible College.

Wells (18-9, 9-2 NEAC) remains in the midst of their most successful season in team history. The women's volleyball program was revived in 2012 after a hiatus of nearly 30 years and the Express have racked up 18 victories only one year removed from a five-win season (5-25, 2013).

With a 3-0 victory against Penn St.-Abington on Friday, the Express have clinched a postseason berth to become the first Wells team in the fall athletic season to qualify for a NEAC tournament since the 2009-10 season (men's and women's soccer).

As a team, Wells racked up 45 kills on 95 swings and committed only 13 attacking errors. Sophomore Meredith Kadjeski (Mechanicsburg, Pa.) and junior Vashti Nettles (Long Beach, Calif.) each posted 11 kills and only two errors on the afternoon, good for hitting percentages north of .400. Kadjeski's lone service aces on the match was the 100th of her career and she enters her next match only three kills shy of 500 for her career. Nettles now boasts an even 250 kills on the year for the Express in her first year.

Senior Taryn Heath (Truxton, N.Y.) set up 33 of her team's 45 kills while classmate Jessilyn Artaho-Aki (Kapa'a, Hawaii) registered nine digs defensively. Sophomore Haylee Ouellette (Terryville, Conn.) picked up four kills on five errorless swings while junior Zakarra Butts (Cortland, N.Y.) also secured four kills offensively. Freshmen Eliza Schwab (Hartland, N.Y.) and Olyvia Brazier (Stony Brook, N.Y.) each hammered home two service aces.

The Express return to action Wednesday, Oct. 22 as they travel to Ithaca, N.Y. to play the Bombers of Ithaca College at 6 p.m.
