GANSEVOORT, N.Y. – Junior Vashti Nettles (Long Beach, Calif.) of the Wells College women's volleyball team was selected as the North Eastern Athletic Conference Women's Volleyball Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday. Nettles, who picked up her first career weekly award from the conference, helped the Express post three-straight wins this past week, concluding the most successful season in team history with a 23-10 overall record.

Nettles tallied 36 kills behind a .338 hitting percentage in a 3-0 week for Wells that included a crucial NEAC victory against Keuka on Tuesday and back-to-back wins against La Roche and Pitt.-Bradford on Saturday. She committed just nine errors on 80 attack attempts for the week, beginning with a .394 attack percentage on a match-high 16 kills against just three errors on 33 attempts in a 3-1 conference win over Keuka on Tuesday, locking up the second seed in the upcoming NEAC Championship Tournament.

She also had a match-high two solo blocks in that contest, while doing the same in a thrilling 3-2 win over Pitt-Bradford Saturday, where she also assisted on four other blocks to go along 11 kills, four aces and four digs. She then slammed home a match-most nine kills behind a .318 hitting percentage to go along with a match-best four aces and four digs in a 3-0 sweep over La Roche to close Saturday's nonconference tri-match.

Nettles concluded her first regular season in a Wells uniform as the only NEAC player to rank within the top-three in both kills per set and hitting percentage against conference opponents in 2014. She also ranked second in the NEAC with 143 kills against conference opponents in 2014 and also ranked second in the league with a .393 hitting percentage against NEAC teams.
